Harley Knucklehead Engine Parts | Improve Performance & Appearance With These Knucklehead Engine Parts

Harley Davidson has a lot of spectacular engines. There is one out there for every single motorcycle enthusiast. One of the very best in history is the Harley Davidson Knucklehead.

The Harley Davidson Knucklehead might have a silly name but it is a great piece of machinery. It was actually named because of the uniquely shaped rocker or valve covers. Harley is always very creative in the naming department, in part because of the great designs they come up with. The job of naming is easy then!

This Harley Davidson Knucklehead engine is a two cylinder engine. There are two valves (where we get the Knucklehead name) per cylinder. It is also a pushrod V-twin.

If you’re into history it might be interesting for you to note that this was the second kind of engine that Harley ever offered. It was preceded by the Flathead engine in the year 1936. This particular engine was manufactured for a span of time between the years of 1947 and 1948. It was the Panhead engine that came in as the replacement for this motor.

It’s amazing, but if you are a true Harley Davidson buff you’ll soon be able to quickly identify any of the engines simply by looking at the valve covers. The Harley Davidson Knucklehead engine’s valve covers have round knobs. These look a bit like knuckles and were named as such.

Since no amount of history is too much for you to learn about the fascinating Knucklehead engine, you might be interested to know that you can even buy a book about them. If you search through any of the popular online bookstores you’ll be able to learn as much as you want!

It is also a great thing that you can still find these motors on the market. It definitely isn’t easy to find the exact one you want all the time, but that’s half the fun. Digging through used auctions and classifieds is a great way to find a Harley Davidson Knucklehead engine.

There is a lot of nostalgia that comes with talking about these engines. It seems like so long ago that the Harley Davidson Knucklehead was introduced on the market. Even so, there is no reason why you can’t make it a part of your Harley life today.
